(Sandy) Alex G – Hope (Official Video)

(Sandy) Alex G is releasing a new album, House Of Sugar, in a couple months. He announced it last month with “Gretel,” which made it on our list of the best songs of the week,” and today the Philadelphia-based musician is back with the album’s second single, “Hope.”

It’s a sped-up acoustic song, Alex Giannascoli’s voice zipping through a tender and frustrated reflection at lives lost because of the opioid crisis. “He was a good friend of mine/ He died/ Why I write about it now/ Gotta honor him somehow,” Gianoscolli sings. “Saw some people crying that night/ Yeah, Fentanyl took a few lives from our life/ Alright.”

The song comes with a visual of a creepy puppet dancing to the track on a window ledge. (Sandy) Alex G has also announced an extensive fall tour
